We're licensed to install basic septic systems, which covers the standard tank-and-drain-field setup most homes and shops need. If your soil test or site comes back requiring an engineered or alternative system, we'll tell you that up front rather than take the job and figure it out later.

Soil and site come first

Percolation and soil conditions decide the drain field size and depth. On the Snake River Plain that can mean sandy loam that drains fine or basalt closer to the surface than anyone hoped. The test happens before the design, and the design happens before the digging.

Setting the tank

The tank sits on a prepared, level bed — not on a rough trench bottom. Inlet and outlet get plumbed at the correct fall, the lid is set for access, and the tank is backfilled evenly so it isn't loaded from one side.

Drain field trenching

Leach trenches get cut to a consistent depth and level along their length, with fabric over the rock so soil doesn't migrate in and blind the field. A field trenched by eye instead of by laser is a field that ponds at the low end.

Permits and inspection

Septic installs in this area go through the health district. We work the permit and inspection schedule into the job rather than leaving you to chase it, and nothing gets covered until it's been looked at.

Replacing a failing system

If a system is surfacing or backing up, the tank and the field both get looked at before anything is quoted. Sometimes it's the tank, sometimes it's a blinded field, and sometimes it's a line the original installer laid flat.

The perc test and site evaluation. The health district sizes the drain field off the soil. If it has not been done, we can tell you who does it and what it costs; if it has, bring the results and the system gets designed around them.

Where the house sits and where the water goes. Tank placement is set by the sewer stub-out, the drain field by slope and setbacks from wells, property lines and the house. A site sketch or a plat saves a trip.

Bedrooms, not people. Systems are sized by bedroom count. A three-bedroom house gets a three-bedroom system even if two people live in it.

Basic vs engineered. If the perc comes back slow or the lot is tight, the district may require an engineered or alternative system. That is outside our license and we will tell you straight rather than guess.

Access for the tank truck. A concrete tank arrives on a boom truck. It needs a route to the hole. Fences, trees and soft ground are worth mentioning before the day.
