Building Pads & Site Prep for American Falls properties

American Falls is farm ground, reservoir-side property and a small town core. Work here runs to septic systems on acreage, driveways and approaches, and pads for shops and ag buildings.

Shop, barn, home and outbuilding pads cut, filled in compacted lifts and finished flat to grade. American Falls is east of our home base in Burley, and we schedule it as a route day so the drive is ours to manage, not something you pay for on the estimate.

Strip, then fill in lifts

Topsoil comes off the footprint first. Fill goes back in lifts and gets compacted as it goes — not dumped in one deep layer and driven over a couple times. Deep uncompacted fill settles for years.

Set the pad above grade

A pad at or below surrounding grade collects water. We build it up so the finished elevation sheds, and we grade the surrounding ground to carry water away rather than to the building.

Finishing to grade with a laser

The pad gets checked with a laser level across its whole area, not eyeballed from one corner. Flat and at the right elevation is the entire deliverable.

Estimates

Free on-site estimates, in writing

Four things set the price on excavation work. We walk the property, look at all four, and hand you one written number before anything gets dug.

  • AccessCan the excavator and dump trailer get to the work without wrecking the yard? Tight lots and soft ground add time.
  • Soil and rockMagic Valley ground goes from sandy loam to basalt a foot down. Rock changes the machine, the pace and the price.
  • Haul-off and materialsDirt hauled away, gravel and road base hauled in, concrete to the recycler. Distance to the pit or the dump sets the cost.
  • Permits and locatesSeptic permits, inspections and utility locates are part of the job and part of the estimate, not an add-on at the end.

How it works

Four steps, no surprises

  • 01Call or text

Tell us what you need done and where. Photos of the site help, and a rough sketch of what you have in mind helps more.

  • 02We walk the site

Free on-site estimate. We look at access, slope, soil, what is buried and where the water goes, then give you a written number.

  • 03Locates and permits

Utility locates are called before any digging. Septic permits and inspections are scheduled with the health district.

  • 04Dug, graded, cleaned up

The work gets done to grade, compacted where it needs to be, and the site is raked back so it is ready for whoever comes next.

Questions

Building Pads & Site Prep in American Falls: common questions

Can you build a shop or barn pad in American Falls?

Yes. Cut, compacted structural fill in lifts and finished flat to laser grade for the concrete or the post frame.

Do you compact the fill?

Every lift. A pad that settles under a slab is the most expensive thing to fix on a building, so it does not get skipped.

How big a pad can you do?

Residential and small commercial - shops, barns, homes and outbuildings. Tell us the footprint and we will tell you honestly if it is our size of job.
